Right before she turned 4, our daughter, Eliza Cate (nicknamed Pickle by her Aunt Shi Shi) , was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Our world was turned upside down in the matter of a few days. With the help of friends, family, and community, Eliza Cate has persevered through tough times. Her battle is still ongoing but she is doing well. We created Pickle's People for every family going through a similar time in their lives.
Our team at Pickle's People consists of anyone that has followed and supported the Volousky family through Eliza Cate's diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Friends, family, community, and complete strangers have wrapped their arms around us. It's our hope that Pickle's People can now provide that support to anyone that may not have the resources that we've had available to us.
We focus first and foremost on bringing awareness to childhood cancer. We advocate for better treatment options and ultimately finding a cure for childhood cancer. Until then, we assist and directly impact local Charleston families that are battling a recent cancer diagnosis
